Staked ACU multiplies what your phones earn — but far less than most people assume, and it depends on your fleet size, not your total stake. Everything below is measured from real epoch payouts, not the whitepaper.

The mechanism

Three steps between your stake and your payout

Phones earn a share of a fixed pool

~905 ACU per epoch, network-wide. Your fleet's committed compute sets your slice.

Stake applies a multiplier to that slice

Self-stake plus delegations, weighted by the runtime when your epoch payout is computed.

The weight spreads across your whole fleet

So the multiplier follows stake ÷ fleet — 20k ACU is heavy behind 3 phones, a rounding error behind 300.

The same 20,000 ACU, three ways

Concentrated stake is where the multiplier lives. The same 20k also earns staking APR (21.2%) on top — the multiplier is extra.

Big farm, same stake

Same capital, 30× weaker relative effect — the fleet dilutes it. Big farms move earnings by adding compute, not stake.

Below ~250 ACU/phone the multiplier is noise. That 1,500 ACU's APR yield (21.2%) is worth far more than its compute boost.

The fine print

Both self-stake and rewardable delegated stake count toward the multiplier — the measurement uses their sum.
The multiplier applies to the compute stream only. Staking APR is a separate stream and accrues either way.
The +10% deployment boost is independent of stake — it comes from actually running deployments.
The phone catalog shows stake-neutral earnings so hardware compares fairly; your devices' pages show actual stake-weighted figures.
Whale-tail multipliers above 1.5× exist (measured up to ~1.85×) but require thousands of ACU per device.

Staking × compute — quick answers

Should I stake more to boost my farm?

Only if it lands you above ~250 ACU per phone — below that the multiplier is within ±4% of nothing. A 3-phone setup reaches meaningful territory (+15–38%) at a few thousand ACU; a 300-phone farm would need whale-scale capital for the same effect. Either way the stake earns APR, so it's never wasted — it just may not move your compute number.

Does delegated stake count, or only self-stake?

Both. The measured multiplier uses self-stake plus rewardable delegated stake. Note delegations pay commission to the manager and their capacity is limited by the manager's commitment.

If I add phones, does my multiplier drop?

Yes — the same stake now backs more committed compute, so stake-per-phone falls. At the same 20k+ ACU total, fleets of ≤5 phones sit near 1.38× while 50+ phone fleets sit near 1.16×. Growing the fleet still usually wins (more share of the pool), but the stake bonus thins unless stake grows with it.

Where do these numbers come from?

From exact per-epoch on-chain records: every manager's real compute payouts divided by their fleet's committed contribution, matched against their live stake — 40 epochs, 1,176 managers, irregular-claim outliers excluded. Not modeled, measured.
